On June 29th Linda Carol Whitney, Executive Director of Kids Voting NC Cumberland County, was presented with a donation check for $3000.00. The Kids Voting NC Cumberland County organization is a non-profit, nonpartisan, charitable organization that teaches students, grades K-12, about engaging in “real-life” issues, races and about the actual voting experience. The program that Kids Voting NC Cumberland County offers is unique because it combines dynamic classroom civic lessons with an authentic voting experience that replicates the adult ballot with a full slate of candidates and issues. The $3000.00 contribution was funded by Bragg Mutual Federal Credit Union and Armed Forces Financial Network (AFFN). Each year AFFN offers a Matching Grant Program. AFFN’s Matching Grant Program is offered with the sole mission of providing support directly to local military families. Bragg Mutual Federal Credit Union in Fayetteville, NC is a corporate sponsor of Kids Voting NC Cumberland County. AFFN matched Bragg Mutual’s $1,500.00 in grant money to the Kids Voting NC Cumberland County organization in proven optimism that students in Cumberland County will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to be active, responsible and engaged participants during the voting process. Bragg Mutual Federal Credit Union and AFFN work each year in partnership to present a donation to a valuable organization. This year the donation supports America’s youth of Cumberland County to learn skills that will serve them when they reach adulthood – to have a greater appreciation of the freedom that is our right and responsibility to go out and VOTE for both on local and national elections.
